December could see tourism arrivals in Thailand fall by 40% warns the Thai Hotels Association (THA). The association reported that average occupancy rate at 4- and 5-star hotels in Bangkok is as low as 30% , showing no signs of recovery from October and November flooding. Arrivals are still down after the capital inundation, and now recent bomb scares have added to foreigner's travels concerns. Prakit Chinamourphong, president of THA, told the Nation; "News on bomb threats in Bangkok is spreading widely in Hong Kong right now. This has made a lot of tourists decide not to come to Thailand sp it would have much impact on tourism and the hotel business here this peak season."  -  TravelDaily Asia 12/22/2011 2:00:00 PM
